Color Tablets Box 1/2/3

In a Montessori environment, the Color Tablets are part of the Sensorial curriculum area. There are 3 boxes that introduce to the child the world of colors. All boxes contain wooden tablets with two side handles.


Color Tablets Box 1

This material contains 3 pairs of tablets (6 tablets in total) with primary colors: red, yellow and blue. In this material we want to child to identify the colors without introducing language.


Language: none

Purposes:

-Provide the child the key to orient himself/herself in the world of color.

- Refinement of the chromatic sense.

- Preparation for art.

Age: 3


What is the child learning with Color Box 1?

The child is gaining experience identifying and pairing colors. The chromatic sense is beginning to develop which will be refined with Color box 2 and Color box 3. The child is also developing his/her fine motor skills while holding the tablets by the handles only.

Color Box 2

This box contains 11 pairs of tablets (22 tablets in total) with colors: red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, pink, brown, gray, black, and white. This Material is presented after success with Color Box 1. Language is introduced in this material.

Language: red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, pink, brown, gray, black, and white

Purposes:

- Refinement of the visual sense.

- Refinement of the chromatic sense.

- Preparation for art.

Age: 3 - 3 1/2

What is the child learning with Color Box 2?

The child is practicing the identification of colors while pairing them. Language is introduced in this material. The chromatic sense is developing which will be further refined with Color Box 3. The coordination and fine motor skills are developed while holding tablets by handles only.

Color Tablets Box 3

The Color Tablets Box 3 contains 9 sets of color tablets (in total 63 tablets). In this material, each set of color tablets are in gradation 7 tablets of each of the following colors: red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, pink, brown, and gray (that includes black and white). This Material is presented after success with Color Box 2.

Language: light, lighter, lightest, dark, darker, and darkest.

Purposes:

- Refinement of the visual sense.

- Refinement of the chromatic sense.

- Preparation for art.

Age: 3 1/2 - 4


What is the child learning with Color Box 3?

The Child is refining his visual and chromatic sense. The child learns that there are many shades and tints of colors. The child will learn new language: light and dark (including their comparatives and superlatives).
